Election candidates face questions from business

The event, organised by the Federation of Small Businesses, aims to give local business the opportunity to quiz their prospective MP directly.

Luton South hit the national news last year when MP Margaret Moran announced her intention to stand down following public anger over the issue of MPs’ expenses.

Among the candidates hoping to succeed her are Esther Rantzen (independent), Joe Hall (independent), Nigel Huddlestone, (Conservative) and Gavin Shuker (Labour). They will make up the panel for the discussion, which takes place at the Riverside Conference Centre in Gypsy Lane, Luton on March 29.

The evening starts at 6pm with a buffet and a chance to meet and talk to the Prospective Parliamentary Candidates. The discussion forum begins at 6.30pm, with questions from the audience and the candidates’ chance to reply and challenge each others’ positions.

The FSB has more than 2,000 members in Bedfordshire. Regional organizer Damian Cummins said: "One of the speakers on thenight will be Luton South’s next MP so this is a great opportunity to find out how much they care about your business."
