Centre unveils info-pods for shoppers

Software specialist Interdirect has developed a touchscreen system that provides shoppers in thecentre:mk with the latest store news and offers, events at the centre and job vacancies with retailers.

The package is part of the centre’s £20 million investment programme.

Thecentre:mk has installed 14 touchscreens which will be regularly updated . The system also acts as a navigation tool and store finder.

Centre director Robert Goodman said the system was one of the most advanced in the UK. Interdirect managing director Nicholas Mann said: ““After a nationwide search it is great that the centre chose to work with local contractors on a project of this scale and we are really proud of the system that is being installed.

“Knowing both thecentre:mk and the industry well, we have made sure that the system is perfect for a shopping centre of its size, the infopods and the forth coming integrated website and intranet have been designed so that we can localise messages to each screen so that shoppers will receive information about offers and events in their immediate vicinity.”

Mr Goodman added: “The new ‘infopod’ system is one of the most advanced in the UK. This state-of-the-art technology system will be key to ensuring that we continue to compete as one of the top ten shopping centres in the UK.”
