Website aims to boost business tourism

www.destinationmiltonkeynes.co.uk features a dynamic new tool aimed at supporting the city’s Conference Desk, the one-stop-shop enquiry service specially created to assist any organisation planning a meeting or event in the region.

Conference Desk aims to match the meeting planner’s requirements to the perfect member venue of Destination Milton Keynes. It can help with every detail of an event – from sourcing the venue, arranging the catering and theming the room through to advising on the actual event activity and even event management where necessary.

Linda Mansfield, who runs the Conference Desk, said: “Milton Keynes is one of the fastest-growing cities in Europe and is already an attractive destination for event and meeting organisers. The city boasts a wide range of conferencing and banqueting facilities, combined with a heady mix of local attractions, which vary from extreme sports to peaceful canals and parks.

“The Conference Desk is already an indispensable tool for any event organiser and the new ‘do business’ section of the Destination Milton Keynes website will only improve our already impressive service. Our aim continues to be to offer a unique service to assist people in sourcing the best venue and suppliers, whatever their requirements. We feel certain that this new technology will both speed up the enquiry process whilst ensuring the best quality of response from the Conference Desk.”

Destination Milton Keynes chair Tony Palgrave said: “The new website couldn’t come at a better time. 2007 is an exciting year for Milton Keynes as it celebrates its 40th birthday, but this year will also see the arrival of our brand new ‘Stadium MK’, enabling the city to become a true contender in the large conference and event market. We’re already attracting a wide range of meetings and events to the region, but the addition of the stadium will ensure even more organisations consider Milton Keynes for their activities, no matter the size.”

Mr Palgrave is pictured with Linda Mansfield (right) and Destination Milton Keynes colleague Jackie Inskipp at the 30,000-seater stadium, designed by world renowned architects HOK (Arsenal Emirates Stadium) has a 2,500 square-metre indoor arena ideal for exhibitions, music concerts and sporting events such as boxing, snooker and darts.

The arena can cater for large corporate functions of up to 2,500 diners, while the double-height open Ballroom with minstrels gallery will cater for 850 banqueting covers and 1,200 theatre style.
