Louise Owen, co-founder of Mount Farm-based digital and large format print business BOBCat Digital, and her business partners Martin Bateman and Rob Blackburn won a grant from business support project Velocity to invest in state-of-the-art production equipment and upgrade the company’s website.
Louise said: “We started trading at the beginning of the year and the past eight months have been a steep learning curve.
"Our immediate priority was to start getting orders through the door through marketing, actively networking and targeting all of our historical contacts.
"This paid off quickly; work was increasing and our client portfolio was expanding.
“We needed additional funds to take the business forward. We had become aware of Velocity by going to a number of networking events and if Velocity was able to help us we thought it was worth investigating.”
They were helped in the grant application process by Velocity’s dedicated business adviser to Milton Keynes, Emmanuelle Clément.
“BOBcat is a great example of the type of business that Velocity can help,” she said. “Through one-to-one support and guidance, we helped them work out exactly what they needed.”
BOBcat Digital is one of 60 businesses supported by Velocity across Milton Keynes since the scheme, delivered by Milton Keynes Chamber of Commerce, launched in May.
Grants of up to £10,000 are available alongside free business workshops, access to a business adviser and support via a website and telephone helpdesk.
