Trophy design presents the bold face of Milton Keynes, says artist

The distinctive glass prizes, sponsored by the city’s tourism champion Destination Milton Keynes, are now being made for the competition which recognises the best of business performance in the MK post code area.

The final task will be to mark each one with the winner’s name for the glittering awards evening on March 20 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel at stadiummk, tickets for which are selling fast.

Robert, who has lived in Milton Keynes for seven years, has built up an international reputation for his ‘Milton Keynes Poster Collection’ of 150 works, inspired by the city and reflecting his love for art deco.

The city skyline is a recurring theme. He can see it from his home in Shenley Church End.

“I love it because it has so many faces and it is changing and evolving,” he said.

For the awards trophy he has created a bold continuous ‘sky-line’ to include the landmark Network Rail headquarters, the Church of Christ the Cornerstone, Xscape and Pinnacle buildings. Robert says Central Milton Keynes presents a positive face to the world.

“I am very pleased to have been asked to come up with the trophy design for these prestigious awards.”

Destination MK chief executive Steven Gordon-Wilson said: “The MKBAA is such a good news story for MK and I’m thrilled that DMK were given the opportunity to support them in some way.

“The trophies which we are sponsoring look fantastic and I’m sure they will be much coveted among the business community. Here’s to a strong and growing future for this great initiative.”

Tickets for the awards, including tables and individual seats, are still available. To book visit the website www.mkbaa.co.uk .
