Students sign up to new learning centre

The Learning Centres format has been successful in Bedford, Luton and Rushden, teaching the basics of IT, helping those who want to convert self-taught skills into a recognised certificate or who want to upgrade their expertise to secure a promotion.

The Milton Keynes centre in Silbury Boulevard is run by Kathryn Squires, who also oversees the Rushden Learning Centre. More than 150 learners have already signed up to the new centre, she said.

Bedford College chief executive Ian Pryce (pictured) said: “Milton Keynes is important to us, many Bedfordians work in MK and we hope will access our training here on their employment doorstep. We thank Milton Keynes Council for its support – we have been made to feel very welcome here in MK.”

The same building houses the Bedford College Apprenticeship Academy, which opened in September 2011 and runs courses in accountancy and IT for young people linked to employers.
