Milton Keynes Council’s economic development and inward investment team InvestMK is leading the Small & Start-up Business Support Fortnight.
Building on last year’s successful Start-up week and Small Business Fortnight events, the Council will celebrate business and enterprise in the city in the run up to the national Small Business Saturday campaign on December 5.
In conjunction with Milton Keynes College, the council is staging 20 free workshops covering key business topics. On top of this, 121 business surgery appointments will be available in partnership with the Federation of Small Businesses to offer targeted support to those with a small or start-up business just starting out.

Milton Keynes will also be hosting its first Start up weekend on November 27. Developers, designers, managers, marketing experts and start-up enthusiasts will be gathered in Innovatemk, a new incubator in town.
The participants will work together to develop their ideas, form startups and compete for a final prize. To find out more, visit http://www.up.co/communities/uk/milton-keynes/startup-weekend/7369
Council leader Cllr Pete Marland said: “From small acorns great oaks grown and it really is vital to nourish businesses at grass roots level.
“Milton Keynes is regularly praised by Centre for Cities as an economic powerhouse, and this year their various reports really focused of small and start-up businesses as the lifeblood of our local economy.”
Pam Gosal, head of corporate economic development and inward investment, said: “With all the accolades Milton Keynes has received – for example, for job creation and high numbers of start-ups it’s clear that small businesses play a major role – and in many ways are the bedrock of the local economy.
“We are working very closely with the public and private sector to create and deliver our Small & Start-up Business Support Fortnight to offer workshops in important skills, ranging from marketing and PR to book keeping and finance.”
