Science festival appeals for sponsors

2009 is an exciting year for science in the UK, being the International Year of Astronomy and the celebration of 200 years since the birth of Charles Darwin. This year the third annual Milton Keynes Science Festival will take place on October 17-25.

The festival will be packed with a series of exciting, entertaining and informative science, technology, engineering and maths activities held around the city and across the region. Events already planned include some involving local schools, universities and interest groups, now they need more businesses to get involved.

The festival aims to stimulate young people’s engagement with science, technology, engineering and maths activities and careers in the Milton Keynes region by showcasing the scientific and technological expertise in the area. Last year’s festival involved more than 1,000 schoolchildren and 3,000 members of the public, said a spokesperson.

She added: “The theme for this year’s Science Festival will be ‘Environment’. This could be our local built environment, human impact on the Earth’s natural environment or even the Earth’s environment in space.

If your business would like to be involved in the Milton Keynes Science Festival, or if you just want to find out more about our plans for this year then get in touch with the festival coordinator, Lindsey, on coordinator@mksciencefestival.org.uk
