Safety first at hospice thanks to free training

HASCAT Safety director Bob Chandler has provided free health and safety training to the 50 staff at Keech Hospice Care near luton for the past four years.

Bob, who runs the Leighton Buzzard firm with his wife Sue, also trains fire marshalls and senior nanagement on risk assessment, He is pictured with the hospice’s people director Davina Harvey.

 Keech is such a fantastic organisation and we just wanted to do our bit for them,” said Bob. “Although we also get involved with fund raising, its great that we can also add some value by putting our business training skills to good use at Keech.

HASCAT has also donated ink cartridges and clothing to the hospice.

Keech Hospice care training co-ordinator Nicky Youngsaid: The training that HASCAT Safety provides makes us legally compliant and keeps costs down thanks to the effective health and safety programme Bob has devised.

We are extremely grateful for his time and expertise. This programme has saved the hospice in the region of £15,000 since its inception.

The training includes health and safety awareness, fire awareness and the correct movement and handling of objects. All staff receive a full days training and take a refresher course every three years.
