Police chiefs look to strengthen links with business

Milton Keynes LPA Commander Barry Halliday has announced that the Milton Keynes Local Policing Area will be working with Andy White, the business connector in the area for the business-led charity Business in the Community.

Supt Halliday said: “I am very happy to announce this new partnership. We already have plans in place for events that will encourage businesses and local people to talk with the police and discuss any issues they currently have.

“I am pleased that we already have such strong community safety partnerships in Milton Keynes and I am sure that by working with Andy we will further strengthen our relationship with the community.”

Business Connectors are people seconded from business, trained by Business in the Community and placed in communities to listen to local needs and build partnerships that tackle local issues.

Andy White became the first Business Connector for Milton Keynes in April 2013. He was seconded from supermarket giant Sainsbury’s where he was the head of community affairs.

He said: “I am really looking forward to getting my teeth into this new role – it is really about getting to know your communities and helping others to make a real difference.

"Helping to enhance the relationship between Thames Valley Police and businesses in the Milton Keynes area will be a great accomplishment which should have a positive effect on local people.”
