MPs welcome latest fall in jobless figures

Iain Stewart and Mark Lancaster have welcomed this month’s figures released by the Office of National Statistics, stating “the decline in unemployment figures for Milton Keynes is highlighting that the government’s long-term economic plan is working.”

The ONS figures revealed that the number of unemployed claimants across Milton Keynes are 1,569 lower than in April 2013 and 163 lower than in March of this year.

Mr Lancaster, who represents Milton Keynes North, said: “Yet another month passes where we are experiencing a significant decline in unemployment and the positive message is that more families are reaping the benefits of local and national policies.”

Mr Stewart, MP for Milton Keynes South, added: “I was very pleased to see the figures today. Although there is no room for complacency it is promising to see people getting back into work and earning money.

“If we keep to the plan I am confident the economy will continue to improve.”
