MP backs the independents on Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday UK is a grassroots campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities.

The day itself takes place on the first shopping Saturday in December each year but the campaign aims to have a lasting impact on small businesses.

Mr Stewart, MP for Milton Keynes South, visited several retailers on Stony Stratford’s High Street including  bespoke furniture shop Morgan Gilder, butchers J. Robbins and the oldest shop in the town hardware specialists Odell & Co Ltd.

“Small Business Saturday is a great opportunity to support local retailers and champion our high streets," he said.

"The business association, retailers and local residents in Stony Stratford have done an exceptional job of creating an environment where independent shops can not only survive but thrive.

“With Christmas coming I hope more people choose to shop local and head over to our high streets like Stony Stratford, Bletchley and Woburn Sands to pick up some gems you would not be able to find elsewhere.”
