MKDP names new chief executive

He played a key role in advising MKDP owner Milton Keynes Council on its £32 million acquisition of land assets from the Homes & Communities Agency.

He takes up his new post in July. Mr Macdonald is partner at property consultancy Bidwells in Milton Keynes, where he will be replaced by Roger Yates.

Mr Macdonald said: “Having lived and worked in Milton Keynes for 18 years this is a chance to directly contribute to, and help shape the future development of Milton Keynes. It is an opportunity that is unique and simply one that could not be overlooked.”

He will be working alongside the three recently appointed independent MKDP board members: former Commission for New Towns chief executive John Walker, who also chairs the National Energy Foundation; businessman Bob Green and MKDP chair John Duggan, the former chairman of developer Gazeley and Milton Keynes Parks Trust.

Mr Duggan said: “This is a very significant milestone for us. We are currently in the process of seeking to appoint two further independent members to the MKDP board. We are confident that we will be able to appoint two individuals with complementary skills to help provide strong leadership of this new organisation.

“This is a big job for the MKDP – and a unique one in the history of Milton Keynes – and we want to have the right team in place, to work alongside the elected members of the council.”
