John Walker, chairman of the National Energy Foundation and a former chief executive of HCA forerunner the Commission for New Towns, is joined on the Milton Keynes Development Partnership board by businessman Bob Green.
MKDP is continuing its search for a further two business representatives to sit alongside four council representatives and council leader Cllr Andrew Geary.
Mr Walker, a former planning director at Milton Keynes Development Corporation, and Mr Green, who has worked with blue chip companies including Scottish Power and ADT and property companies Wilson Connolly and McCann Homes, were chosen from a list of 15 applicants.
MKDP chair John Duggan said: “This is a good start and we have recruited two candidates of a very high calibre with the appropriate skills and experience.
"This is an important step forward for Milton Keynes and we are very keen to have people with the right mix of personal skills and experience from relevant sectors – and we are definitely getting there.”
Milton Keynes Council completed the transfer of HCA land assets in January. It has set up MKDP as a limited liability partnership to oversee development control in the expansion areas, inward investment and the Milton Keynes Infrastructure Tariff, a sum paid by developers for every new premises built in the borough.
The two remaining independent posts on the board are due to be advertised shortly, said a council spokesman.
