The organisation, which has run the market for a number of years, was chosen as the preferred supplier by Milton Keynes Partnership following a competitive tender when the market lease came up for renewal.
MKP chief executive John Lewis said: “The market is a much-valued local facility and it is essential that it is managed effectively. While we were not looking to fundamentally change the nature and offer of the market, we wanted some improvements to its layout and appearance."
Bray Associates managing director Brian Nunan said that the improvements would be made with minimal disruption to shoppers.
New colour matched awnings for the stalls and the addition of purpose made overhangs will provide protection from bad weather. The layout of the stalls will provide for clear, unobstructed aisles and there will be well-lit pedestrian routes through the market.
‘Lockable’ stalls will be secured with roller shutters and covered with awning blinds to improve the appearance of the market when it is closed.
These improvements will take place once the new five-year lease is under way on July 1 and are expected to take around three months.
