It’s more fun than eBay, says auctioneer

Fiona, who works for Bedford-based property consultancy and auctioneer Robinson & Hall, takes charge of her first sale later this week at the Holiday Inn Milton Keynes East.

Under the hammer at the regular auctions go a wide range of peoperty and land, from residential and those properties in need of refurbishment to commercial premises and paddock land.

Fiona says: “No auction is the same – there is always something for everyone and the room always contains a large cross-section of characters. It is exciting and fast moving – everyone has to stay on their toes. Some walk away having made an unpredictably large profit and others leave with a sound investment. Seeing all this activity first hand is much more fun than online auctions such as eBay.”

Last year, Robinson & Hall property sales totalled property sales totaled £29 million.

Robinson & Hall, whose auctioneering arm has grown substantially since it began conducting auctions in Milton Keynes, has joined forces with Milton Keynes-based property consultants Aitchison Raffety to increase auction sales by auction of commercial and residential property.

Alan Downer, of Aitchison Raffety, said: “Robinson & Hall’s auction expertise combined with our local knowledge and contacts will provide opportunities for both companies to expand this division and promote the sales to a wider audience.”

Mr Downer said: “In today’s falling market, a same day conclusion on price is valuable and gathering all interested parties together identifies a true market value.

“Selling by auction provides a highly efficient method of sale and for public bodies, trustees and charities there is the added advantage of a quick and transparent sales process as buyers and sellers are contractually committed at the fall of the hammer.”
