Destination Milton Keynes’ May 1 initiative aims to harness the pride many businesses and residents have for Milton Keynes and to promote the city as a business and leisure destination.

Destination Milton Keynes, the official tourism organisation, wants Twitter users to use the hashtag #LoveMK all on their tweets on Wednesday in the hope of it trending UK-wide in the UK.

The day also coincides with the launch of the new LoveMK Guide which highlights activities on offer in the area.

Destination MK marketing manager Carys Underwood said: “We are hoping that the Twitter community will help us out and get #LoveMK trending across the UK on May 1 to not only promote Milton Keynes as a destination but also to show how much pride they have in the place that they live and work.”

The visitor economy is worth over £200 million to the area and encouraging the community to get involved in promoting their city  could increase the wider benefits even further.
