Flights take off for the ‘Big Apple’

The first passengers with boutique airline La Compagnie left Luton last Friday, arriving into Newark later that evening.

La Compagnie will initially operate three flights per week between London Luton and New York Newark, increasing to six flights per week from June.

Airline chief executive Frantz Yvelin said: “This is a very exciting moment for La Compagnie and our passengers. La Compagnie is proud and happy to be able to bring this unique proposition to the London transatlantic market.”

La Compagnie flies redesigned Boeing 757-200 aircraft customised with a stylish interior and 74 lie-flat seats in a 2×2 configuration throughout a spacious, single aisle cabin.

Every passenger will enjoy the use of a personal Samsung Galaxy Pro 12” tablet, which can be removed from the seat backs and used wirelessly while on board. All tablets come fully uploaded with an assortment of e-books, magazines, music and of course the latest movies.

London Luton Airport chief executive Nick Barton said: “The launch of La Compagnie’s all-business-class service to New York is a great moment for London Luton Airport.”

Passengers also receivein-flight amenity kits including cosmetic products from natural French skincare brand Caudalie. The on-board menu features seasonal dishes created by acclaimed French chef Christophe Langrée, former chef of Hotel de Matignon.

La Compagnie began flights between Paris Charles de Gaulle and New York in July last year, carrying more than 15,000 passengers in that time.

The airline is offering a special DUO promo fare of £1,950 for two passengers travelling together, including all taxes. Book before May 31 for travel between June 30 and September 3
