Families put their best feet forward for Willen Hospice

The sponsored walk on June 2 includes three options to suit all abilities: a three mile circuit of the North and South Willen Lakes, a shorter walk of 1.5 miles around the North Lake only and, for more of a challenge, walk round both lakes twice and complete six miles.

All walks start and finish at the Hospice. Walking starts at 11.30am on the day and when walkers finish they can enjoy refreshments, entertainment and stalls in the Hospice Garden.

Family entertainment for the day includes Zumba Warm Up, Diamond School of Performing Arts, Bolivian Sunshine Dogs, Fraser’s Rag n Roll Band, radio station MKFM and much more.

The hospice’s community fundraiser Allison Waterhouse said: “We’re really looking forward to our Walk for Willen and this year’s new Family Festival. It’s going to be a great, fun event to be enjoyed by those with two legs or four and we are looking forward to seeing lots of walkers and families enjoying the day.”

There will also be a special memory wall within the Hospice for people to leave a message in memory of a loved one. Cards will be available on the day or can be requested beforehand by contacting the Hospice.

The registration fee for the Walk for Willen is £6 for adults and £2 for 16 and under. “Dogs walk for free,” says Allison.
