Crisis forum focuses on IT security

Milton Keynes Council is playing an active part in International Business Continuity Awareness week, which takes place from March 17.

The council and the Milton Keynes Business Resilience Forum are hosting a free seminar, Counting the Cost, on March 19, 9am-1pm, in the council chamber.

The event will have particular focus on the impact of disruptions, with particular emphasisoninformation security, cyber-crime and hacking prevention.

There is an excellent line-up of speakers from both government and industry, including the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure, Network Rail, Microsoft, BSI and OCF IT Security Consultants.

They will aim to raise businesses awareness of the current threats and give advice on how to increase resilience in these areas.

Cllr David Hopkins, council member responsible for the local economy, said: “In the event of a crisis, a proper business resilience plan can make the crucial difference between a company sinking or surviving.

“Forward planning is vital. I would urge business bosses across Milton Keynes to think very seriously about attending this seminar.”
