Countdown begins to the Milton Keynes Business Achievement Awards 2015

Members of Milton Keynes Business Leaders Partnership and sponsors of last year’s event gathered to hear about plans for MK BAA 2015, building on the success of the inaugural awards held in March.

Dr Philip Smith, chair of MK Business Leaders Partnership, which is presenting the awards in association with full service agency Interdirect and event management company Evolution, said 2015 will be even bigger and better.

  • Bigger – with more award categories, and easier online entry with amended criteria to reflect Milton Keynes’ diverse mix of business sizes and types.
  • Better – with a new venue layout and an after-show party with music.

Dr Smith (pictured) also announced that the journalist, broadcaster and former war correspondent Kate Adie will be the compere at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel at stadiummk on March 12, 2015.

“MK BAA 2014 was a resounding success and we are very proud of that achievement, and for 2015 we will make it an even greater celebration of Milton Keynes’ business success,” he told the audience at a reception hosted by The Casino MK.

Dr Smith urged all businesses with a MK postcode to consider entering for an award, and to visit the MK BAA 2015 website at www.mkbaa.co.uk

Fulfilling a pledge that the net proceeds from the 2014 awards would go towards a trust fund for start-up and emerging businesses, Dr Smith presented a cheque for £5,013 from MK Business Leaders to Julia Upton, chief executive of Milton Keynes Community Foundation, which will administer the fund.

She said the donation came as a report showed that in parts of Milton Keynes two out of five children lived in poverty but, she said: “That cycle can be broken with investment in skills, start-up businesses and social enterprise.

“We are looking forward to MK BAA 2015 and will be there rooting for you,” she said.
