City welcomes the Rugby World Cup to Milton Keynes

The first of three matches at stadiummk takes place on Thursday (October 1), when France take on Canada, and business and community leaders were joined by England Rugby 2015 chairman Andrew Cosslett, who reflected on about the tournament so far and the benefits that Milton Keynes can expect to see as a host venue.

Mr Cosslett (pictured) spoke about the records that the tournament had already broken over its first two weeks. Milton Keynes had proved itself time and time again throughout the build-up to the tournament and was now firmly ready to be a Host City, he added.

Other speakers included MK Dons FC chairman Pete Winkelman and Geoff Snelson, Milton Keynes Council’s director of strategy, who spoke about the financial benefits to Milton Keynes from hosting the tournament.

The Parks Trust chief executive David Foster also spoke about the Fanzone open in Campbell Park from Thursday until October 11.

stadiummk also hosts the Samoa v Japan match on Saturday (October 3) and Fiji’s clash with Uruguay on Tuesday October 6.
