City counts down to Rugby World Cup spectacular

The tournament kicks off at Twickenham on September 18 with England facing Fiji, the start to an exhilarating six weeks of rugby.

There are a number of factors which makes the 2015 event important to Milton Keynes: three games take place at stadiummk, Campbell Park hosts an official World Cup Fanzone, and teams from Fiji and Samoa will use the city as their base for the tournament.

The Fanzone will host a series of exciting events during the tournament. Ahead of kick-off, the Webb Ellis World Cup trophy will be in town on August 20-21, schools tournaments are being planned and there are opportunities for businesses to become involved in Corporate Touch Rugby.

Touch rugby is the simplified  fun version of the game, played on smaller pitches, over 40 minutes by teams of six or more.

The corporate touch league is fairly new to Milton Keynes, played on the club site at Emerson Valley, and is growing from strength to strength.

As part of Milton Keynes’s Festival of Rugby, businesses are being invited to enter a team. Previous experience of playing rugby is not essential, and ideally teams should be mixed – it’s a fun way to engage colleagues, help get your workforce fitter, meet other businesses in the league, and be part the festivities taking place around the Rugby World Cup.
