Chambers of Commerce celebrate success at national awards

The Chamber, alongside its sister Chamber in Northamptonshire was voted the second best Chamber in the country out of the 53 Chambers accredited by the British Chambers of Commerce. It was also runner-up in the Excellence in Membership Services category.

This is the fifth year running the Chamber has been shortlisted and is the only time the organisation has not walked away with a title having won five awards in the four previous years.

Milton Keynes and Northamptonshire Chambers chief executive Paul Griffiths attended the gala ceremony at Tobacco Dock in London last night (Thursday) with a team from both Chambers.

He said: “We are honoured to be runners up in both the Chamber of the Year category and the Excellence in Membership Services award. To be recognised by our peers for the fifth year in a row is an incredible achievement and is testament to the dedication and hard work of our team.

“I’m proud of the entire team and would like to thank them as well as the board, local partners and stakeholders and of course our valued members for their ongoing support.”

There was also recognition for two Northamptonshire Chamber members. Barker Shoes won the Digital Communications Campaign of the Year title and ID Card Centre was shortlisted for both the Best Use of Technology and High Growth Business of the Year awards.

“We were absolutely thrilled to see two of our talented Northamptonshire Business Awards winners reach the national final,” said Mr Griffiths.

“Barker Shoes Ltd were worthy national winners in their category, having already won the regional title and having been crowned the Business of the Year at our own Northamptonshire Business Awards. They show that entering our local awards can lead to national success.”
