The Alumni Symposium takes place on October 19 and will bring together high-profile alumni and leading faculty to address the issues around doing business in the 21st century.
The conference, entitled The New Normal, will explore what the new business landscape will look like in comparison to the ‘normal’ of recent years and will provide delegates with the opportunity to hear critical thinkers from key areas of industry identify challenges and opportunities for the future.
Among the speakers is John Cridland (pictured), director general of employers organisation the CBI. An influential spokesman for the business community, he will share his knowledge on adapting to a ‘new normal’ in business and offer recommendations for businesses to help revive the recession-ravaged economy.
Cranfield economist Professor Joe Nellis said: “Given the scale and scope of the fundamental changes driving the global economic and business environment, this conference will invite participants to reflect on what is ‘the new normal’ and look at the implications of the changing balance of economic and political power across the world for governments, society and business.”
Fellow speakers will include Cranfield alumni Warren East, CEO of ARM – the UK firm behind the computer chip technology powering Apple’s iPhone and iPad – and Robert Wright, pilot turned businessman who set up his own airline.
School of Management director Professor Frank Horwitz said: “The business landscape has changed fundamentally: tomorrow’s environment will be very different but no less rich in opportunities for those who are prepared.
“At Cranfield we have a long history of developing and supporting managers, leaders and organisations to address more effectively an uncertain future and to explore alternative realities.”
