Marcus Breitschwerdt (pictured) has taken responsibility for all sales and marketing activity in mainland Europe and the UK.
His appointment follows three years leading the company’s UK business to record-breaking success.
Since Mr Breitschwerdt joined Mercedes-Benz UK at its headquarters in Milton Keynes, sales of passenger cars have increased by 45% to more than 108,000 in 2013, passing the 100,000 mark for the first time in the UK.
Van sales have grown by 34% to more than 30,000 and truck sales have almost doubled to more than 9,500.
Mercedes-Benz UK has restructured, with Gary Savage being appointed as chief executive of Mercedes-Benz UK and managing director Mercedes-Benz Cars.
The commercial vehicles business has been organised into two distinct divisions. Michael Kamper is managing director Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Steve Bridge has appointed managing director Mercedes-Benz Vans.
Mr Breitschwerdt said: “I am 100% sure that our new divisional and regional set-up will help us to be even more dedicated to the customer and as a result even more successful in competition.”
