£9.9m deal is just investor’s cup of tea

Barberry Group has sold the estate in Leighton Buzzard to property investment company Bedfordshire, to Helical Bar plc.

The sale closes Barberry’s portfolio of industrial property, the firm having divided the 200,000 sq ft factory into two warehouse units after it bought the property in 1999.

Barberry director Henry Bellfield said: “The market for industrial property in the south east of England is extremely strong and we decided the time was right to realise our investment in our units at Leighton Buzzard.”

Both units are let on 15-year leases. Peli Cool Logistics has the UK headquarters of its Cool Logistics speciality packaging division at the site in Stanbridge Road. The other unit is let to Mini Clipper Logistics, which as been based in Leighton Buzzard for more than 40 years.

Helical Bar already holds a significant portfolio of property and the acquisition of the Leighton Buzzard property creates new asset management opportunities for the company.

Investment director Duncan Walker said: “This asset will generate substantial surplus cash flows as we continue to deliver value from our lower yielding London properties.”

DTRE advised Barberry Group with Colliers International advising Helical Bar plc.
