Everyone has it in them, says Wealth & Tax Management managing director Tony Byrne
I HAVE always believed that most people secretly have a desire to run their own businesses. If so, why do so few people start a business?
Well there are a number of possible reasons why they don’t, such as fear of failure, security of their current job, lack of working capital, lack of confidence etc. However, one of the major reasons is simply not knowing where to start. A good starting place is to follow the Japanese concept of IKIGAI.
Many employees are dissatisfied with their work. They may have a good job but it does not fulfil their needs. They are not following their passions. Instead they should consider starting their own businesses. What’s the worst thing that could happen? The business does not succeed. What then?
Well, go back to working for someone else. The world has not ended. You tried but it didn’t work out on this occasion. You could always create another start-up later.
These are the four things you need to start your own business.
- Do what you love
- Do what you are good at
- Offer a product or service that the world needs
- Make it something people are willing to pay you for
We all have it in us to start our own business. What is stopping you?
