Plastic bottle shows its mettle as sales pass 1 BILLION

The bottle, the lightest and strongest bottle on the British market, has passed the milestone only two years after first launching on the market and is flying off the shelves of major retailers including Marks & Spencer, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Waitrose.

To date, Infini has saved 34,000 tonnes of carbon and 16,000 tonnes of material per year since launching in 2012. The bottles are manufactured at its plant in Newport Pagnell.

Nampak managing director Eric Collins said: “We are thrilled about the announcement of our billionth Infini bottle sold. It’s great to see the efforts of the whole team at Nampak highlighted by customer sales.

“It is clear that the Infini bottle is an innovative, sustainable and cost-effective product  which, evidently, consumers enjoy.”

Marks & Spencer’s primary foods packaging technologist and innovation lead Kevin Vyse said: “Having witnessed Nampak continue to push the barriers around performance and sustainability over the last few years, it is great to hear of the announcement of the billionth Infini bottle sold.

“I am looking forward to further hearing about the advances Nampak has planned for developing this ground-breaking product.”

Infini has won Nampak a series of prestigious awards since the launch, including the DuPont Award for Packaging Innovation, Sir Peter Parker Award for sustainable business leadership and, most recently, The Cream Award’s prize Judges’ Award for Packaging Innovation.
