Academy hosts open evening for businesses

The event takes place in the Academy’s high-tech Business Hub at Leadenhall, between 5pm and  7pm.

Academy director of business and enterprise Sean Hickey said: “We have been able to take a hard look at the curriculum and put enterprise and business right at the heart of it.

“We want to make sure that students – who are the employees of the future – are equipped with the skills needed to be successful in the modern economy. Every one of the Academy’s 1,100 students will develop skills and knowledge that will really give them a huge boost when they start their working lives.

“Of course, to do this we need the support of local business people and we have been delighted with the interest already received.”

More than 100 local businesses have attended Academy business events during the past few weeks and have pledged support in different ways. This includes everything from mentoring students to giving classroom talks or demonstrations, or inviting students into the workplace.
