The funding, which totals £100,000, will also be used to support stepping-stone projects that will work towards building confidence and raising aspirations.

ICAEW, the chartered accountants body for England and Wales that has its headquarters in Central Milton Keynes via the national, will use the fund with the community foundation to identify opportunities in Milton Keynes and via the wider Community Foundation network to guide where the funding could be used around the UK.

ICAEW director Matthew Downton said: “Our goal is to provide support and inspiration to those with aspiration and ability but are disadvantaged. Improved social mobility leads to greater equality of opportunity, a wider pool from which to draw talent and ultimately a more productive local economy.”

Milton Keynes Community Foundation chief executive Ian Revill said: “The Community Foundation is delighted to work in partnership with ICAEW to improve social mobility within black communities and welcomes the opportunity to support projects of real impact that will be life changing.”
