30 doves mark milestone for Willen Hospice

Jan 01, 2011

Chief executive Paul Hinson is pictured as he releases one of the doves on the shores of Willen Lake. He was joined by staff, nurses, volunteers and trustees to commemorate the past 30 years and to look forward to the next 30.

In his speech, he recognised the sustainedsupport and generosity from local communities and businesses.

Mr Hinson said: “Our 30th anniversary is a pertinent time to reflect on the kindness we have received, that has enabled us to remain an essential service to the people of Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas.

"Our vision is to be the lasting and thriving provider of free care to all people affected by life limiting illness in our community.”

The hospice has unveiled a new logo, branding and vision for its future. It has planned a series of fund-raising under the 30 Ways banner, a list of different and unusual ways to raise money for the hospice – available on the website.

Mr. Hinson said: “This is a very special year for Willen Hospice and one that we want to celebrate in as many ways possible. We already have many local businesses and individuals saying ‘Yes’ to continuing or extending their support for this special year.

“Whether you have been supporting us for many years or whether you have never thought about supporting us, our 30th year is a wonderful excuse to do so and ensure we are always there to care.”
