2014 – what a year for the ChamberDec 31, 2014
For us, 2014 has been an incredible year. We are still a relatively young Chamber but there has been a phenomenal array of activity.
Our membership is growing and is approaching 300 – representing more than 14% of the workforce – and we are establishing a growing calendar of events to support Milton Keynes business.
In January we launched our first Quarterly Economic Survey, a business barometer which gives firms a voice to express their concerns and experiences of trading in the Milton Keynes area.
In March, Milton Keynes Chamber members had the opportunity to contribute to an interim report by Lord Adonis on revitalising the British economy called Competing in the Race to the Top.
In July we announced our new board of directors.
November saw the launch of our Chamber magazine inbusiness, designed to promote our members and showcase positive initiatives in the Milton Keynes area.
The team behind Milton Keynes Chamber has been nationally recognised for Excellence in Membership Services at the national Chamber Awards – a huge achievement and recognition of the commitment to establishing Milton Keynes Chamber.
Other highlights include:
- Launching the Velocity free business support;
- Adopting MK Gallery as our first charity of the year;
- Doubling our Milton Keynes workforce.
In terms of export, our International Trade team processed well over 1,100 documents which were essential in allowing our members to ship their goods worth a total of more than £12 million abroad.
We are preparing for our inaugural Business Exhibition on February 20 at Novotel Milton Keynes Hotel. This free event incorporates a networking lunch and two free 60-minute seminars. Visit www.chambermk.co.uk for more details.
Our vision is to build and nurture a respected, influential business community and share knowledge, advice and opportunities. We are on course to achieving this.
We wish everyone in the Milton Keynes business community a happy and prosperous New Year.
